Looking for a Home Comfort Upgrade with Superior Air Quality?

Gandy can help!

Are you still holding onto that old furnace that’s been keeping you warm for the past 10+ years? It may be time to start thinking about replacing it with a new, more efficient model.

As your furnace gets older, it can become less efficient and requires more frequent repairs. Not only can this be costly, but it can also put your family’s comfort, health, and safety at risk. On the other hand, a new furnace can provide improved energy efficiency, lower utility bills, and a safer and more reliable heating system. And with rising energy costs on the near horizon, this is something to consider.

Gandy and Lennox have put together a complete home comfort system, with rebates up to $1,700 and 0 payments for 2023 with an additional FortisBC rebate of $1,000.

With a new installation (of a furnace, heat pump or air conditioner) you will also receive your choice of Gandy’s highest-quality air filters, including one of the following two options:

Healthy Climate Merv 16 Filter (Valued at $1100) The Merv16 is a whole-home filter that removes more than 95% of particles and catches particles down to 0.3 microns. It helps remove germs, viruses, bacteria and mould, as well as ground-level ozone and odours.

Another option is the Sanuvox SR Maxx (valued at $1200), a UV Air purifier and odour removal system. The filter destroys bio-chemical contaminants while providing important user information on the multi-colour LED display. It also kills VOC (Volatile organic components), viruses, germs, bacteria, mould, chemicals, odours and allergens.

This time limited offer of healthy home package upgrade has unbelievable savings of over $3900.

Upgrading to a new furnace can be a significant investment. Still, it can pay off in the long run with lower energy bills and a more reliable and efficient heating system, and now, with Gandy’s air quality add-on, you’ll have improved comfort and air quality.

Don’t let your old furnace hold you back any longer, consider upgrading to a new, more efficient model today.

Gandy’s here to help. A name you can trust, a family you can depend on.

Gandy Can Make Your Home Shine!

From New Years’ Eve, to Diwali, Vancouver has a lot to glow about.

If you’ve been to New York City, you’ve seen the Empire State Building and the colourful spire change with the seasonal and cultural events — even celebrating their favourite teams.

We’re so fortunate in Vancouver to have a multicultural tapestry, with many ethnic communities and their own “official” times to show off their celebrations with their home.

The first outdoor Christmas lights were available to Canadian homeowners in the late 1920’s, but for most, it was much too expensive. Over the years, many styles and colour designs have made their appearance, but until now, it was a painstaking effort to hang the lights, and you were restricted to one colour grouping. It was also essential to take them down right away as the season ended, as rust and corrosion of the lights would deteriorate your strings in our cold climates.

Today, in Vancouver, there are so many reasons to celebrate. From Diwali, Hanukkah, and Christmas, festivals of lights aren’t just for Christmas anymore!

Gandy Installations is now a proud distributor and installer of Gemstone lights.

Gemstone is a unique lighting solution that allows you to customize your home lighting any time of the year easily.

The system has a weather and fireproof rating. Although most outdoor lights are rated to -20, we’re the only company in Canada to offer a temperature rating of -55c. Gemstone is also the only company in Canada whose lights are fireproof rated.

Your old lighting system will fail in around 2-5 years, but the Gemstone collections are rated for 20 years.

Using a weatherproof quick connect system, you’ll find that serviceability is much easier if a single light ever burns out.  The Gemstone lighting system does not require special wiring, as it plugs into any existing outlet. The high-quality low power light bulbs won’t burden the energy bill.

These days you’ll love the wi-fi connection and easy app that will help you create the perfect colour, from warm white to a Canuck Blue or BC Lions orange, to show off your team spirit on game days!

From a small installation around your backyard pool to spectacular façade lighting, you’ll love how your house will stand out on the street.

There’s also a security aspect to the Gemstone series. Your home will be less inviting to criminals when your place is well-lit.

Feel The Love!

Gandy Installations provides free HVAC installations to those in need

Anyone who has contributed their time, talent, or helps knows what a good feeling it is — giving back. It’s something Gandy Installations has participated in over the years – helping folks who wouldn’t usually put themselves first.

Partnering with Lennox since 2009, the impact has been tremendous. 37 U.S. States and Canadian provinces have participated, with over 1,500 installations performed and over nine million dollars in donated materials.

General Manager Taylor Gandy, along with his crew has been pleased to work along with Lennox, as the program gives neighbours an opportunity to come together, give back, and improve the lives of deserving people in their communities.

Lennox International is now accepting nominations for its Feel The Love program, which is expanding its focus this year to bring hope and support to medical professionals, essential workers and those on the frontlines of the COVID‐19 pandemic. Lennox and Gandy Installations understand these are, and continue to be uniquely challenging times and look forward to benefiting the brave workforce who continues to serve the community every day.

For the past ten years, Lennox’ Feel The Love program has installed heating or cooling equipment at no cost in Canadian homes to help those facing physical, mental or social disabilities, financial challenges or job loss. Military and community service are also key factors in choosing HVAC recipients.

What Makes A Good Nominee?

Feel The Love nominees all have one thing in common: they always put others first. But sometimes, these individuals need a little help making sure their own needs are being met.

Many nominees simply don’t have the means to make their homes more comfortable on their own. That’s where nominations from community members like you come in.

While unsung heroes come from all walks of life, some examples of past nominees we’ve honored include community figures such as teachers, firefighters and volunteers; families facing hard times; veterans; senior citizens living in older homes; and people impacted by natural disaster. In short, anyone who serves others is a good candidate for a Feel the Love nomination.

If you know someone in your community who deserves recognition, nominating them to receive a new heating or cooling system is a heartfelt way to show your appreciation.

Heatwaves – Extreme Heat Safety Is Our Concern At Gandy Installations

Experts have warned after the summer of 2021 — with record-breaking temperatures and raging wildfires, particularly in BC, we should prepare for more scorching heatwaves in the years to come.

Global warming is a defining issue of our time. The “heat dome” we experienced last summer was a high-pressure system that trapped warm air underneath it and raised the mercury to unprecedented levels in Canada, shattering more than 100 heat records across British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. Looking at the summer surface temperature trends, Peter Carter, an expert reviewer for the IPCC, is concerned that Canada, like the rest of the world, is headed for “hellishly hot summers.”

Many of our customers have been proactive and installed heat pump systems, air conditioners and air quality filtration systems with Gandy Installations. We’ve been happy to help them improve the quality of sleep, rest, and relaxation in their homes. Good and restorative sleep and a healthy indoor environment is key to good health, mental and physical.

It’s a smart move to prevent AC equipment from overloading during droughts and heatwaves.

When the heat outside is unbearable, it’s tempting to run your AC unit incessantly. A far worse scenario is having your air conditioner breaking down right in the middle of summer.

A few things to consider during those sweltering days — such as closing your blinds or window coverings during daylight hours to prevent the sun from warming your home; supplementing with fans; and limiting the use of appliances are all great ways to give your AC system a bit of a breather during those super-heated days.

But what happens when something goes wrong?

Performing routine maintenance on your cooling systems is the best way to prepare it for extreme weather.

And that’s where Gandy Installation’s Comfort Club is there for you!

The Comfort Club is a worry-free and reliable maintenance program (from as low as $15.95/month) that provides you with regular maintenance, ensuring your units are operating in the safest manner possible and preventing unnecessary breakdowns when the outdoor temperatures are extreme (cold or hot).

Many of us have become accustomed to having the problems of supply chain challenges, adequate service and support issues, and lineups over the past years. We wanted to ensure that our customers had an avenue of support that they could rely on to achieve peace of mind, particularly when our phones might be ringing off the hook. We offer priority service and a 15% discount on repairs, as well as a guaranteed diagnostic appointment within two business days to all of our Comfort Club clients.

Gandy Installations provides service in your area, from Vancouver to Chilliwack. Our Head Office, located in Langley also has dispatch offices throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Breathe Easier This Spring

Gandy Installations offers solutions for healthy air inside the home

The days are longer, a little warmer, and spring cleaning is on the agenda.

Allergies are also on the rise and can be a real problem when you add poor indoor air hygiene to the list.

As you break out the cleaning supplies this spring, it’s essential to know that while you’re moving things around, you are also probably spreading allergens throughout your home. Dust mites, dust and various VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) carbon-containing chemicals that evaporate quickly at average room temperatures are the #1 cause of allergy and asthma symptoms. VOCs can build up in your home, and the concentration worsens over time. Proactive remedies include using natural cleaning solutions, ventilation, and testing your house for VOCs.

Gandy Installations offers several solutions to allow your entire family to breathe easier in your home this spring.

For as little as $15.95 a month, Gandy’s Comfort Club maintenance program gives customers peace of mind knowing that their heating and cooling equipment is operating safely and efficiently. Protect your HVAC system by joining the Comfort Club for regularly scheduled, reliable and hassle-free maintenance.

The program includes annual maintenance, four pleated 1” filters, scheduled reminders, priority service, and a 15% repair discount.

Things have been hectic in the HVAC industry these last two years, but Comfort Club members get a guaranteed diagnostic appointment within two business days.

 Call 604-534-555 to get started.

Your furnace, boiler, on-demand water heater, air conditioner and/or heat pump must be serviced by a qualified technician on a yearly basis. You want your equipment to be operating at the safest level as efficient as it can be, to avoid unnecessary breakdowns when the temperatures are at their worst (blazing heat or bitter cold)

Tune-ups include checking for safety issues, such as carbon monoxide or gas leaks, and general operation items cleaning filters and adjusting moving parts such as belts, ensuring the temperature rise/drop is accurate. Air conditioners will be checked for refrigerant levels, condensate lines, and coils. These are a few of the several points checked, cleaned and improved during the process.

More than 90% of all homes have one indoor air quality problem. Our Air Advice expert will help identify and solve issues that impact your health, comfort and safety. For $49 extra with a scheduled tune-up or $99, we’ll help you zero in on how best to reduce dust/particles, chemical pollutants, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and relative humidity (all potential problems in your home). Every house is different, due to contributing factors such as age and style of the home, pets, how much you cook, clean and live in your home, health conditions, and personal lifestyle. It’s Gandy’s goal to reach a benchmark of healthy and happy air to breathe for everyone in the family.

Have you recently moved? Although the surfaces of your home may appear clean, it’s improbable the previous owners cleaned their ducts before they left. You may have years of collective duct particles, skin flakes, dust mites, pet dander, smoke and hair from previous inhabitants of your home. It’s time for a clean start! If you have an air conditioning system, it will be working double-time this summer, so getting your ducts in a pristine shape will help you breathe easier during the hot days you are inside.

UV residential air purifiers are designed to purify and reduce biological and chemical contaminants throughout the home.

Technologies such as Pristine Air, Sanuvox, or PureAir systems reduce up to 99% of indoor air contaminants, germs, infectious agents and chemical gases and odours. If your family struggles with seasonal allergies or chronic health conditions, these innovative and healthy solutions give you the top level of protection that you can receive.

For over 60 years, Gandy Installations have made it their mission to help BC families enjoy a comfortable, healthy home.

Go Green And Clean With Home EV Chargers

So, you’ve decided to buy an electric vehicle and can’t wait to join the green revolution, fight climate change and reduce carbon pollution. Good for you!

You are joining the thousands who want to be a part of the solution – meeting Canada’s Climate Emergency Goals. By 2030 it is planned that 50% of the kilometres driven on Vancouver’s roads will be by zero-emission vehicles.

The most common location to charge an EV is at home, and it’s often the least expensive. In Greater Vancouver, most families can charge enough for their daily drive on a wall outlet, also known as Level 1 charging, in 4 hours or less, which works excellently while your EV is parked overnight. If you have access to a Level 2 charger, 45 minutes is all it takes on average.

Most cities do not require any EV-specific permits for retrofitting homes, but you must have a valid electrical permit and have your work done by a qualified professional.

If you live in a townhouse or condo development with strata, some various rules and bylaws have to be considered. Your strata regulations and bylaws will specify when homeowner approval is needed.

If you own your single-family home, having an electric vehicle (EV) charger will also add value to your home when you consider selling in the future. Remember, though, electrical permits are necessary, as these are some of the issues that come up when selling a home (unpermitted construction must be disclosed). This is where Gandy Installations is your best solution for your EV charging stations.

Get started!

Gandy Installations is ready to help. They install both Level 1 and Level 2 electric chargers. Level 1 electric vehicle chargers have a dedicated 20-amp outlet, and level 2 electric vehicle chargers have a dedicated 30-60 amp outlet.

First, give us a call at 604-534-5555 for a free in-home estimate.

  • One of Gandy’s licensed electricians will perform an onsite inspection, calculate your home’s electrical load capacity and provide an installation quote.
  • Gandy can supply the car charging equipment or install a device that you have previously purchased.
  • We will apply for the permit on your behalf.
  • When the permit is issued, we will schedule your installation.
  • Once your home EV charger installation is complete, we will provide you with all the documentation you need to apply for your rebate(s)

Electric Vehicle Cost Savings

Choosing to drive an electric car will not only cost you less at the gas station, but you can also save money through the EV Incentives in BC program.

Provincial and Federal rebates are available for the purchase of electric vehicles in addition to the installation of EV charging stations in homes, strata buildings and workplaces.

Spotlight On TRP Participant: Gandy Installations

What the TRP program means to their business and the environment!

At 65 years young, Gandy Installations is a familiar and respected name within BC’s HVAC community. And, as a participant in HRAI’s Thermostat Recovery Program (TRP), the company is playing a key role in keeping harmful elements out of Canada’s waste stream.

“It made sense for us to join the TRP program, both from an environmental angle and in terms of bringing extra value to our customers,” says Taylor Gandy, General Manager with the HRAI member company.

Gandy Installations is among the HRAI members who serve as a collection hub for the TRP program. Says Gandy, the job is as simple as collecting mercury-containing, electric, and mechanical thermostats from customers and having them shipped to HRAI to be recovered or recycled.

“It’s pretty straightforward,” he says. “We have a container here where customers can drop off their old mercury thermostats, and when that’s full HRAI sends us a shipping label and we send them off at no cost to us.”

Gandy adds that joining the TRP program has not only drawn additional business, but it has given existing customers a way to make a small, but important impact on their environment.

“There’s definitely the feel-good aspect to this,” adds Dave Guild, Service Manager with the company. “You can see that the customers who pop in to drop off their thermostats are happy that they’re able to do the right thing with the thermostat, as opposed to what they thought their alternatives might have been.”

“So whether or not having the TRP drop-off here translates to business, it’s just the right thing to do,” adds Gandy.

A community staple

Gandy Installations is among HRAI’s longest-running members. Its origins date back to 1957 when Charlie Gandy and Ken Atwell launched Atwell-Gandy Gas and Electric to serve a need for a forced-air heating contractor in the Fraser Valley. Several decades and transformations later, the company is now among the largest forced-air heating and cooling contractors in the province, offering a range of HVAC services for residential, commercial, and industrial clients throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.

“Our approach isn’t to do things for the cheapest price; We provide over-the-top customer service and that’s what we’ve always been known for in our community. We’ve been here a while, and we’re dedicated to being the contractor that people can trust,” says Gandy.
